About Bright Cheese
Established in 1874 by local farmers, Bright Cheese and Butter was born out of the necessity to transform surplus milk into cheddar cheese. By the early 20th century, cheddar had emerged as Canada’s second-largest export, with a staggering 1,242 cheese factories in Ontario. Among them, Bright Cheese stands as a testament to time, proudly holding the title of the oldest remaining cheddar factory in Canada.
Operating from its original 1800s-era facility in Bright, Ontario, Bright Cheese continues its tradition of crafting award-winning cheeses. Their diverse offerings include aged cheddars, Asiago, Colby, Monterey Jack, Feta, Havarti, curds, and more. As they approach their remarkable 150th anniversary milestone in 2024, Bright Cheese remains a cherished emblem of Canadian cheese-making excellence.
