Some of the best baked goods in Oxford County come from a converted barn in Verschoyle, where Esther and her family have built a business one batch at a time.
Esther’s baking journey didn’t start with a storefront. She began selling baked goods out of a mobile trailer, building a loyal following long before she had a permanent location. Today, The Hot Oven Bakery operates out of a charming detached barn in Verschoyle, where Esther and her family continue to bake everything fresh and from scratch.
The Hot Oven is open Fridays and Saturdays, and regulars know to plan ahead. Their most popular items have a habit of selling out quickly, so getting there early in the day is the best way to make sure you don’t miss out.
At Discover Rural Oxford, running September 15–17, 2026, visitors will have the chance to sample and purchase some of The Hot Oven’s delicious homemade baked goods in person, no early-morning drive required.
If you’d rather experience the bakery in its element, The Hot Oven is located at 293225 Culloden Line in Verschoyle, Ontario, open Friday and Saturday. Follow along for hours, seasonal offerings, and pickup details on Facebook.
Either way you get there, one bite will tell you why this little barn bakery has become a destination of its own — baking up memories one batch at a time.
