SUNOVA IMPLEMENT-Offering Solutions

Established in Lakeside, south of St. Mary’s, by John and Carmen van Lierop in 1998, Sunova Implement is a family owned and operated company that has always dedicated itself to the needs of their customers. Offering an ever evolving line of equipment (both sourced and manufactured) in order to meet customer demand, Sunova ensures that it remains competitive in its offerings, however it also maintains integrity in the brands and equipment it offers. They only offer what they believe in. In fact, that’s their mission: “To find simple and practical solutions for everyday problems. Here at Sunova, we stand behind everything we sell!”

At the beginning, in the late 90’s and early to mid 2000’s, Sunova Implement was running out of the van Lierop farm. Due to excellent word of mouth references and recommendations, Sunova Implement experienced exponential growth in a short time. When they reached the point of deciding whether to grow more or maintain the status quo, they decided to go for it! As John said, “Most startups have a plan B for failure, but not a plan B–for success!” What does one do when they are successful, how do they move forward? John was prepared. A nearby property happened to be available, with already established, usable buildings. Moving operations there, Sunova grew to offer more equipment and services. Sunova has established their good reputation through the sales and service of new and used forage equipment, trailers, and other quality equipment over the years from leading companies such as Veenhuis, Claas, and now- new to Sunova and to North America- a product line called Pitbull compact loaders. Sunova will take care of Sales, Service and Parts (and will be offering demos). To note-Sunova Implement welds, paints and final-assembles their Veenhuis trailers to the same high standard as the Veenhuis the manufacturing facility in Raalte, Netherlands.

Experiencing success away from home before in Oxford County, Sunova and their team made a name for themselves in the early years. Approximately ninety percent of Sunova’s sales was to the USA and Mexico, with a lot of repeat business. With the internet not as it is now at the time he started up his company, business was conducted over the phone and customers were able to hear the sincerity in his voice, and paint a picture of who they were dealing with, without meeting John first hand.

With the world’s shift to online capabilities, many are able to see what Sunova has to offer on its website, but John prides himself on the ability to connect with customers. Personal connection is important to Sunova, and they definitely follow John’s moral compass for the business. “Be good to people; be honest; have integrity; and establish a good, strong, long-term business relationship. I prefer old fashioned principles,” John emphatically stated.
