They say that it takes a village to raise a child, but what about having a community be your village for health, self-love, and your betterment? Built Fitness in Tavistock is just that, knowledgeable staff and a wonderful community of members who help build each other up.
Jason and Nikki Glofcheski opened Built Fitness in the old Francis Furniture Building on January 13th, 2025. It had always been a dream of theirs to own a gym, and the fit was perfect since Jason is a certified personal trainer. Built Fitness is a 3000sq ft space, offering a functional training area, selectorized equipment, a cardio area, unique plate loaded machines, free weights, squat racks, and cables. They also carry supplements from HD Muscle, a Canadian owned brand from Burlington, Ontario. There are three monthly membership options: Youth 14-17, Adult 18-64, Senior 65 and above or a yearly option which saves members one month in fees. Members enjoy 24/7 access via a key fob, and there are staffed hours from Monday – Saturday.
Their mission is to empower their members to achieve their health and fitness goals in a welcoming and supportive environment, providing a space for everyone, regardless of age, experience level, or background. To help build community and get members engaged, Built Fitness offers a monthly challenge and Functional Fit Fridays. The monthly challenge offers some fun competition and the chance to win a $25 gift card to a local business, offering that community support that Jason and Nikki greatly believe in. The Functional Fit Fridays provides members with a weekly workout that utilizes the equipment in the functional training area that includes turf, box jumps, sled pushes and battle ropes, just to name a few! Jason noted that “Our Instagram demonstrates the exercises and is saved in our highlights for future reference.”

People in the gym know each other, and those who don’t eventually come to know each other. This sense of community makes Jason and Nikki proud to offer this positive space for the community to gather and get healthy. “It doesn’t feel like a job,” Jason said, noting that he, Nikki, and their three children (who also work at and attend to the gym) genuinely enjoy engaging with their members. The whole family enjoys chatting with everyone and offering whatever support, guidance, and encouragement they can. They offer free tours and orientations to those who wish to join or try out the gym. “We are dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community where every member feels valued and included, regardless of their fitness journey.” This is a family-owned facility, and they are proud and passionate about what they have created at Built Fitness.
At the end of the day, Built Fitness is built for you; they offer a positive space for you to come work out, interact with your neighbours, and challenge yourself. Stop by and give them a try, you won’t be sorry!
