It may not seem like it now, but Spring is around the corner, and so are some new delicacies available at Orange Door Acres Farm! Tim and Donna Norris, owners of Orange Door Acres in Mount Elgin, are introducing a homemade line of pizzas to replace the current line they carry. These delicious offerings will be a truly local endeavour, as the pizza doughs are sourced from The Hot Oven in Verschoyle (sourdough), and Rosy’s Gluten Free Kitchen in Ingersoll (gluten free).
Each pizza dough type is 12” in size and are prebaked and topped with tomato sauce and mozzarella, and then finished with either Pepperoni & Bacon or as a Deluxe style, and offered for sale frozen. More versions are in the works, so stay tuned!
“We will source locally as much as possible.” shared owner Tim Norris. As with their other offerings on their newer farm outlet, Orange Door Acres reflects this philosophy in their all-Canadian products. What is not produced on their farm, is sourced from fantastic purveyors of quality foods nearby. “Supporting local businesses is at the heart of our philosophy, and the majority of the items we offer are sourced right here in our community!”
Orange Door Acres offers artisanal chickens, lovingly raised on the farm and available for sale frozen as cutups or whole. With a huge no-spray strawberry operation, a small apple orchard and raised vegetable gardens, they can grow most of the ingredients needed for their own branded preserves. An on-site commercial kitchen allows the owners to create vegetable salsa, marinara sauce, pickles, and delicious thirst-quenching freeze pops. Don’t forget to look for their custom ready-made meals and dog treats, too. Also available in store are local cheeses from a variety of local dairies, seafood from Caudles Catch, in Kitchener, Good Pud pudding ganache products from Tillsonburg, a selection of gluten free goodies from Rosy’s Kitchen, Early Bird Coffee, dehydrated mushrooms from Positive Produce in Woodstock, and so much more! You can peruse their offering on their Shop page.
If all that weren’t enough, Orange Door Acres is also a licensed convenience outlet for wines, beer, and ciders. Wines are all Ontario VQA, and the beer on offer are craft beers made locally, such as Take a Hike from Upper Thames Brewing Company in Woodstock. They can be your one-stop-shop for an effortless local dinner, complete with something to quench your thirst!
Voted Best New Tourism Product Award in 2024, Orange Door Acres also offers farm tours and educational products for kids and adults alike to come see their operations. This is especially fun when the chicks come in, however, visitors are encouraged to come see first hand how their food is raised, be it chickens or strawberries or produce; a veritable Farm to Table operation. Contact Tim or Donna to come in to take a gander, and hey, while you’re there, grab a pizza would you?
Bon Appetit!
