Oxford County Federation of Agriculture Promotes Local Food

Written by: Laura Fraser, MSR

Supporting farmers and promoting local food is always a high priority at OFA, and the Oxford County Federation of Agriculture is fostering their relationship with community partners to share this message.

Oxford Fresh is a partnership between two groups who share a passion and love for promoting local – the OCFA and Tourism Oxford. These groups work together on local initiatives, events, social media campaigns, maps to local goods and producers, and their latest endeavour- a billboard and video series.

The OCFA utilized Special Project Funding from the OFA to promote Oxford Fresh in their County by working with Tourism Oxford to film a series of “sizzle reels” to highlight local food and farmers. The videos will be shared on social media platforms, and on their websites.

Billboards will also be found around Oxford County to promote the message that local is better. Choosing local gives you the unique opportunity to get to know your local food producers and make informed decisions about where your food comes from. Supporting local food puts money back into the local economy and reduces your carbon footprint. Better yet? Getting it fresh and nearby tastes delicious! Oxford is lucky enough to be located right in the heart of Ontario’s agriculture and produces everything from meat and fish to chocolate, honey, fresh fruits and vegetables, award-winning cheese and more. The campaign wouldn’t be complete without some locally made t-shirts to help spread the message!
