If you’ve been looking for a reason to visit downtown Norwich, The Hen House Local Market is it.
Owner Laura Roth opened The Hen House in the fall of 2021 with a simple mission: support local. What started as a farm market concept has grown into a permanent downtown boutique at 7 Stover Street North — and the concept behind it has stayed true to its roots.
The Hen House is made up entirely of women-owned small businesses from Oxford and Norfolk County. Every product on the shelves comes from a maker in the region, spanning home decor, clothing, bath and body products, pet accessories, stationery, jewellery, and one-of-a-kind gifts — with a strong thread of farm-inspired, country-living character running through it all.
The market is also home to two specialty offerings: their Little Nestlings collection of baby and children’s items, and Lasting Links, a permanent jewellery studio offering customized bracelets, anklets, and necklaces in sterling silver and 14k gold-filled (appointments required).
At Discover Rural Oxford, running September 15–17, 2026 in the Rural Pavilion at Canada’s Outdoor Farm Show, visitors will be able to shop The Hen House’s Little Nestlings collection alongside their broader lineup of farm-themed gifts and local finds.
If you can’t make the show, The Hen House Local Market is open Wednesday through Friday 9am-4pm and Saturday 9am–1pm at 7 Stover Street North in Norwich. Follow along on Instagram at @thehenhouse_localmarket.
Don’t be a chicken — it’s a plucking good time.
